April: DL Gallie
This month's author is the lovely DL Gallie. I'm so excited to have her on the blog!
DL Gallie is from Queensland, Australia, but she's lived in many different places all over the world. She currently resides in Gladstone with her husband and two kids. She and her husband have been together since she was sixteen, and although they drive each other crazy at times, she couldn't imagine her life without him. Shortly after her son was born, DL began reading again. With encouragement from her husband, she picked up the pen and started writing, and now the voices in her head won't shut up. DL enjoys listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. She's also never been known to turn down a cocktail, especially a margarita.
Interview:
Can you tell me what inspired your latest novel? Where did the idea come from?
I’ve just release Seven Nights, it was a pre-made cover and as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it. I was staring at it for a while and then BOOM a story appeared and Bryce and Hayden were born.
What does your workday look like?
Wake between 6 and 630
Coffee
Get kids ready for school
Come home and author (one day a week is dedicated to non author things like cleaning, washing, shopping and errands)
Get kids from school and then homework and dinner prep
After kids in bed, chillax with hubby and watch Netflix or a movie…or play on our phones next to each other.
If you could co-write a novel with anyone, who would it be?
HMMMMM, well I am currently co-writing a secret project with a fellow author so I can’t really answer this one….yet.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Take the leap, the first step is always the hardest.
What’s a genre you haven’t written but would like to try?
Murder suspense mystery
What are your hobbies outside of writing?
Reading, I’m a total bookwhore.
If you had to go to dinner with one of your characters, who would it be, where would you go, and why?
Kasey from my upcoming December Gals novella. She’s strong and is in a difficult situation when we first meet her. I’d love to just chat and be besties with her. We’d meet at a wine bar.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Panster to start and then abour 40% in I plot out the rest of the story.

Tell me about your book.
My next release is December, from the December Men series. Gage is a Grinch, year round, but at Christmas he’s extra Grinchy due to an incident when he was little. One Christmas he meets Marlee, he’s expecting a romp but she becomes more than that. With her help, he overcomes his issues from his childhood and I’ll leave it there.
What’s your favorite book?
Intensity by Dean Koontz. I loved the suspense and guessing.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received (Can be writing related or life in general)?
Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one but its THEIR opinion not yours. You make your own decisions with that you are given and as long as you are happy with the decision you made, then that’s all that matters.
What’s next? (book-wise)
Currently working on Falling for Dr. Kelly. Its an opposite’s attract steamy love story.
Would you rather … be transported permanently 500 years into the future or 500 years into the past?
I think I’d rather past… life was much more simple back then.
Where do you write and can we see a picture?
I have my office and my lap desk.
Which of your characters is your favorite and why?
I don’t have a favourite, I love them all for different reasons. Its like asking which child I like best, I can’t and will not choose.

What are your writing must-haves?
Coffee, lots of coffee
Dream vacation?
Bora Bora
What job would you be doing if you hadn't become an author?
I was a travel agent before having my kids so maybe back to travel, I’m not sure exactly.
Do you get writer's block, and if so, what do you do to combat it?
Yes. I close my MacBook and I take time off and read, do non author things and then I’ll be doing something random and BOOM the voices are back.
What books are you looking forward to reading this year?
The Forge Trilogy by Meghan March (its sitting on my kindle waiting for me)
